breast cancer research foundation

Founded in 1993 by breast cancer survivor Evelyn Lauder, her husband Leonard Lauder, and their friend, Dr. Larry Norton, with a mission for ending the disease of breast cancer through increased funding for research and study.

For the last two decades, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation has been rated as one of the premier breast cancer research organizations in the world, and has worked to pioneer the study and prevention of the disease. In addition, the organization has served as a support network for breast cancer survivors and an example of hope for the community.

Here are some of the most important ways BCRF benefits the breast cancer community all over the world, every day.

BCRF’s 6 areas of focus are:

  • Tumor biology

  • Heredity and ethnicity

  • Lifestyle and prevention

  • Treatment

  • Survivorship

  • Metastasis

More than half a billion dollars has been raised by BCRF since 1993, with 91 cents of every dollar donated going toward research.

In 2016 and 2017, BCRF will support more than 250 researchers in 14 countries and 5 continents by donating $57 million in grants.

The organization has been voted one of the most financially efficient nonprofits in the US, and received an A+ rating from CharityWatch and a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator.
